Lee County Awarded $1 Million for Housing Infrastructure Near Ewing |
Appalachian Regional Commission funding supports planned water-line and roadway work |

Lee County, Virginia, has received a $1 million award from the Appalachian Regional Commission for infrastructure intended to support housing in the Ewing area.
The award was announced Wednesday, October 28, according to WJHL.
The proposed work includes 6,610 linear feet of new water line and 338,256 square feet of new roadway.
Why infrastructure comes first
Housing projects depend on practical services such as roads and reliable water connections before homes can be developed and occupied.
For rural communities, those infrastructure costs can be an obstacle to adding housing for existing residents and newcomers.
The ARC award is intended to support construction that can help make future development possible.
Funding is not completed construction
The announcement establishes an award, not proof that all the infrastructure is already built or that new homes are ready for occupancy.
The number and type of homes ultimately supported should be confirmed through local project documents.
Residents can look for later updates on project timing, construction work and related housing plans.
The investment is a noteworthy development for the Southwest Virginia portion of the Tri-Cities Daily readership. |
