Liberty! Outdoor Drama Returns to Sycamore Shoals |
The summer production brings the Overmountain Men story to life at Fort Watauga Amphitheater. |
ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — One of the region’s most distinctive outdoor performances is back at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park.
Liberty! The Saga of Sycamore Shoals returns to the Fort Watauga Amphitheater, giving audiences a chance to experience local Revolutionary War history in the same setting where part of the story unfolded.
The outdoor drama tells the story of the Overmountain Men, frontier settlers who gathered at Sycamore Shoals in 1780 before marching across the mountains toward the Battle of Kings Mountain. That campaign became a turning point in the Revolutionary War in the South.
Set near the Watauga River and reconstructed Fort Watauga, the production combines live performance, music, period costumes and regional history in an evening outdoor setting.
For families, history lovers and visitors looking for something different to do this summer, the show offers a memorable way to experience one of Northeast Tennessee’s most important historic sites.
Guests should check the latest performance dates, ticket availability and weather updates before attending. |
