Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee is preparing for its eighteenth annual Project Thanksgiving campaign.

The organization announced the return of its holiday food-box initiative Wednesday, October 28, according to WJHL.

The effort partners with local radio station WCQR to raise support for traditional Thanksgiving food boxes distributed to families who need assistance.

A regional holiday tradition

For households facing tight budgets, holiday groceries can be an additional financial challenge.

Programs such as Project Thanksgiving bring together donors, volunteers, broadcasters and local distribution partners to help families share a holiday meal.

The annual radiothon serves as a public opportunity to support the food bank's work.

How to get involved

Anyone interested in contributing should check Second Harvest's official Project Thanksgiving information for current donation methods, volunteer needs and distribution arrangements.

Families seeking assistance should use the food bank's current referral and eligibility guidance rather than assuming there is a single public pickup location.

Specific campaign dates and participation instructions should be confirmed before they are published as event details.

We will revisit Project Thanksgiving closer to the holiday as additional schedules and community opportunities are announced.
