Two events on Saturday, October 24, offer Tri-Cities residents different ways to make the most of the weekend.

Kingsport Farmers Market Fall Festival: The market's ninth annual Fall Festival is scheduled for October 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at 308 Clinchfield Street in Kingsport.

The City of Kingsport says festival activities are free to the public.

Families looking for a morning outing can consider the market event, while checking the city's latest event announcement before departing.

Johnson City Drug Take Back Day: The Johnson City Police Department plans to collect unused and expired medication on October 24.

The event is scheduled for the parking lot of the Johnson City Municipal and Safety Building at 601 E. Main Street.

Residents should check the department's announced collection hours and accepted-item rules before bringing medications.

Removing unneeded prescriptions from the home can help reduce the risk of accidental access or misuse.

These two events offer a family-friendly activity and a practical household service on the same Saturday.

As always, details can change, so check with the event organizers for last-minute updates.
